“However, as it is written: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him” but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God” (1 Corinthians 2:9-10).

Think about the day in eternity when Jesus wraps the championship belt around your waist. There you are standing in the center of the cage of life.  Though the heavenly hosts are all around, it’s as if you and he are alone.

Maybe he will say: “I am so proud of the way you fought the good fight of the faith. Because of you, other Anointed Fighters have become champions in the faith as well.  Would you like to meet them?”

After saying this, Jesus calls each Anointed Fighter to step forward.  One by one, they each step out of the crowd and into the cage of life.

The first is a fighter from your gym, a cocky fighter who used to spend a lot of time bragging on himself during training sessions. To be honest, you didn’t even think he knew who Jesus was. “You never knew I was paying attention to you,” he says, “but I was.  One by one each fighter continues stepping forward and giving their testimony.

We will never know on this side of eternity the scope of our influence for Christ.  Are you walking the walk?

Remember, it is called a fight for a reason.  However, we fight from victory, not for victory.  Keep Fighting!

Leg Kicks of Bitterness

“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”

Ephesians 4:29-32

Oh, the leg kicks of bitterness. The damage begins slowly but before the end of the fight, you are barely able to stand.  If you have ever watched an MMA fight, you have seen the damage that leg kicks inflict on fighters.  In the spiritual realm, bitterness plays the role of leg kicks.

Many fighters have had their spiritual legs kicked out from under them due to unforgiveness. It is a favorite knock out blow for the demonic. Our heavenly trainer warns us in our corner. “In anger his master turned him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed. “This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother from your heart”

(Matthew 18:34-35). That is nothing less than a strong literal warning that demonic spirits can kick a fighter in the legs if they are unforgiving and bitter inside.

The simple choice, the only choice, is for you to drop the anger.  You will never be called upon to give anyone more grace than God has already given you.

Remember, it is called a fight for a reason.  However, we fight from victory, not for victory.  Keep Fighting!

Trust Your Heavenly Trainer

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”

John 14:1-4

A great trainer can be the difference between his fighter winning and losing. In the spiritual realm during “the “good fight”; the heavenly trainer is the difference between victory and defeat. It is the fighter’s responsibility to get the job done, but he would not be able to get this job done without his trainer’s guidance each step of the way. We must learn to trust our heavenly trainer.

Don’t be troubled by the good fight.  Don’t be anxious about things you cannot comprehend.  Your heavenly trainer will make sure he prepares you for the fight. For the Anointed Fighter, the outcome of the fight is not a riddle to be solved, or a code to be cracked, but rather a day to be anticipated.

Remember, it is called a fight for a reason.  However, we fight from victory, not for victory.  Keep Fighting!

Die to Live

“I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. However, if it dies, it produces many seeds. The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.”

John 12:24-26

As a fighter, we do all we can to win and not be tapped out.  God, however, says we must tap out our old way of living in order to win the championship of his new life. To the natural man, this does not seem right.  I mean, die to live?  However, the Lord tells us ““For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD” (Isaiah 55:8).

When you plant a seed, it must die in the ground before it can grow.  Likewise, in order to win the championship in Christ, we must tap out our old fighting style. What we see as defeat, he sees as the ultimate victory.

And when an Anointed Fighter taps out inside the cage of life, it’s not a time to despair, but a time to trust.  We must understand that a champion as been born.

Remember, it is called a fight for a reason.  However, we fight from victory, not for victory.  Keep Fighting!

As I Prepare To Fight

Posted in Cage of Life Devotional on February 24, 2010 by anointedfighter

February 24

“Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.”

John 16:24

Prayer:  In the powerful name of Jesus Christ, as I prepare to fight, I pray the Lord grants me the anointing of his spirit.  May Christ give me the power of the archangel Michael in my hands and the strength of Gabriel in my legs. I pray for victory through Christ to control my emotions and focus my mind.  Lord, grant me the courage to conquer fear, to gain peace from your word, to “not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul” (Matthew 10:28).  I praise you Father, Lord of Heaven and Earth. I Begin this Fight with a submission to you. I praise you Father for your mercy. I praise you Father for lifting not my hand, but my soul up to you when “the good fight of the faith” (1Timothy 6:12) is through. Amen

Remember, it is called a fight for a reason.  However, we fight from victory, not for victory.  Keep Fighting!

The Fight Within

“May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.”

2 Thessalonians 2:16-17

Prayer:  Christ, harden me against the fight from within my body the weak fighter with a pathetic voice who cries for the round to be over instead of praying for endless time on the mat.  Myself, archenemy to my soul, my weakest training partner, my deadliest adversary, my inner voice, tapping out, grant me strength from within to execute a powerful reversal, to mount my biggest fears and choke him out for eternity, for I know when I am weak you are strong. Therefore, when my soul is raised, yours is the name that will be praised. Amen

Remember, it is called a fight for a reason.  However, we fight from victory, not for victory.  Keep Fighting!

The Anointed Fighter

“For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.”

Romans 8:13-14

It is not the heckler who counts or the man who laughs when the Anointed Fighter is knocked down.  It is not the spectator who could have fought better. The championship belongs to the fighter who is actually in the “good fight”, whose face is cut by the elbows of adversity and silently bleeds round after round. It is the person who fights valiantly, who is knocked down, and who comes up short repeatedly.

Make no mistake; there is no eternal championship without error and shortcoming.  The Anointed Fighter actually continues to “fight the good fight of the faith” (1 Timothy 6:12); he dies to self and lives in Christ; at best, he knows in the end his salvation is secure, and at the worst, if he fails he is forgiven.

Remember, it is called a fight for a reason.  However, we fight from victory, not for victory.  Keep Fighting!

Seven Rounds to Victory

February 21

“Give us aid against the enemy, for the help of man is worthless. With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies.”

Psalm 60:11-12

Round # 1
Fight with character, competence, and courage.

Round # 2

Stay in top physical shape, physical stamina is the root of mental toughness.

Round # 3

Anticipate the evil ones punches and prepare to counter punch. Don’t wait until you are hit in the mouth and then make up your mind.

Round # 4

Remain humble when you win. Don’t worry about who receives the credit. It all belongs to Jesus any way. Never let the championship go to your head.

Round # 5

Take a moment of self-reflection. Look at yourself in the mirror every night and ask yourself if you fought the good fight with all you have.

Round # 6

True satisfaction comes from Christ. The key to a successful Anointed Fighter is to win inside the Cage of Life not because of your own efforts, but because you life is hidden in Christ.

Round # 7

Hang Tough! Never, ever, give up. It is called a fight for a reason. However, we fight from victory not for victory. Keep Fighting.

The Power of Prayer

Posted in Cage of Life Devotional on February 20, 2010 by anointedfighter

“We know that God does not listen to sinners. He listens to the godly man who does his will.”

John 9:31

Every fighter wants punching power.  If your punches lack power, the chance of you being knocked out during the fight is good.  The key to spiritual punching power is prayer!

Most of us could spend a little extra time seeking the face of our heavenly trainer.  It is easy sometimes to be caught up in the fight and forget where the true source of our power comes from.  We show up to the gym and work on being good more than we spend time giving thanks.  Our prayer workouts lack consistency. In order to hear our heavenly trainers voice clearly during the heat of battle, we must spend time listening for his voice during training.

How powerful are your spiritual punches?

Remember, it is called a fight for a reason.  However, we fight from victory, not for victory.  Keep Fighting!

Keep Moving

“God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, in order to make your hope sure. We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.”

Hebrews 6:10-12

As Anointed Fighters, it is important that we continue to grow and improve every day if we are to have success inside the cage of life.   It’s tempting to get comfortable with were we are and never push ourselves to reach the next level in our faith.  We serve an infinite God who wants us to keep moving closer to him every day.

Look back to the previous fights in your life.   Now ask yourself a few questions. How does your prayer punches today compare with then?  How about you’re giving submissions?  Have your victories increased? What about you’re training loyalty?  Can you tell you’ve grown as an Anointed Fighter for Christ?

Don’t make the mistake of standing still in your good fighting career.  Keep moving forward.  A fighter who stands still is an easy target.

Remember, it is called a fight for a reason.  However, we fight from victory, not for victory.  Keep Fighting!
